The Jungclas Family has a very
rich and proud
Heritage that all stems from a beautiful village known as
Treysa
which is in the Schwalm Region of
Germany.

Today, the village of Treysa
is more commonly
known as
Schwalmstadt
as several
years ago it was combined
with another nearby village to
form one new city or village,
that of Schwalmstadt. To the
right, you
will see the
Schwalmstadt Wappen or
Coat of Arms.

This region has a wealth of
history that even
includes the Brothers Grimm. It has been reported
that the Brothers Grimm wrote the Fairy Tale
"Little Red Riding Hood"
based upon this
wonderful and beautiful locale. The embroidery
above
and on the left is typical of the Schwalm
Region and is exclusive to this
locale or area. You
should espically note the heart patten which is so
identified with this locale and region.

To the right is a
Street View in Treysa,
Germany. On the far
right you will see the
main Jungclas Family
Bakery. Towards the
middle of this
photograph you will
note a
building with a
steeple. This is not a
church but the Village
Hospital which dates
back centuries.
It was at this Hospital that Ludwig Jungclas (Born on 14 May 1643, Died on 3 April 1685) kept an office and was employed by the Village of Treysa. His official position for the Village involved the finances and financial records for the Village and Hospital. This made him a prominent citizen of community. Below you will find a photograph of his gravestone as well as a close up of the inscription on his gravestone which notes his date of birth and death in Treysa.

Even more interesting is a rare find as you will note below. Below are four photographs of a handwritten letter that Ludwig Jungclas wrote in 1667.

The Jungclas Family History and Heritage lives on even today... Hartmut Jungclas has been researching the Jungclas Family Genealogy in Germany for several years and is responsible for collecting and preserving much of the Jungclas Family's past and history. He has preserved a wealth of information on the history of the Jungclas Family, its Bakery and its Heritage. Most of his research has been done in Germany but it was not until early 1993 that just by coincidence that both Hartmut Jungclas and Daniel Thomas Jungclas discovered the family relation or link that would unite a portion of a Heritage between relations in both Germany and the United States of America.
A span of about 133 to 160 years had past since relations of the Jungclas Family had embarked on a trip that would mean leaving their German roots behind to find a new home in the New World of America, the United States. It was this link that bridged two worlds, one New one Old, and two countries together. Until this link was made in 1993, the Jungclas Family in Germany had known of relations which supposedly had left for America but all contact with such relations had been lost over that time period of 133 to 160 years or more. While Hartmut Jungclas has been continuing the Jungclas Family's genealogical research in Germany so has Daniel Thomas Jungclas but Dan's research has been done mainly in the USA. It was Dan's search or quest for his ancestor's homeland that led him to the link which just by coincidence connected him with Hartmut Jungclas and the vast heritage and legacy of the Jungclas Family and its Bakery. Fortunately, the link was made just in time to make the Jungclas Family Bakery's 400th Anniversary that more special and memorable!
Since that link in 1993, The Jungclas Family has learned much about its vast heritage in both the USA and in Germany. Today, The Jungclas Family stands united and proudly celebrating, as they did in June of 1993, a vast and very enriching heritage though thousands of miles or kilometers apart!
